
Jackals Receive Garbowsky and McPherson from Rochester

ELMIRA, NY - The Elmira Jackals, ECHL affiliate of the NHL's Buffalo Sabres and the AHL's Rochester Americans, announced today that the forwards Matt Garbowsky and Allan McPherson have been assigned to Elmira from Rochester.
Garbowsky, 25, returns to Elmira for his fourth stint with the Jackals this season. He has recorded three points (one goal, two assists) in six games with Elmira this season and has logged one assist in 16 contests with the Americans. The St. George, Ont. native appeared in eight games with Rochester at the end of last season, following the conclusion of his collegiate career at R.I.T. (Rochester Institute of Technology). As a senior, Garbowsky was named as one of 10 finalists for the 2015 Hobey Baker Award while earning honors as the 2015 Atlantic Hockey Conference Player of the Year and Defensive Forward of the Year. He was also voted a unanimous Atlantic Hockey First Team selection and named a 2015 CCM Hockey Second Team All-American, the first in program history.
McPherson, 24, joins the Jackals following his second stint with Rochester this season. He scored his first AHL goal of the year in his last game on Saturday in Grand Rapids. McPherson has skated in 15 games with the Americans this season in addition to 18 contests with Elmira. The Kinburn, Ont. native returns to the Jackals tied for fourth on the team with nine goals and tied for sixth with 18 points. McPherson split his rookie campaign between Elmira and Rochester earning 23 points (eight goals, 15 assists) in 24 games with the Jackals while adding eight points (three goals, five assists) in 44 games with the Americans. Prior to turning pro, McPherson reached the 100-point club at Clarkson University, amassing 103 points (41 goals, 62 assists) in 150 games. He earned Clarkson's Bill Harrison Most Valuable Player honor as a junior and a senior.
Additionally, the Jackals announced that the club has released forwards Tyler Gjurich and Ryan Patsch from their Standard Player Contracts.
