New Jersey Jackals News Release
The Nashua Pride scored five unearned runs against starting pitcher Isaac Pavlik as the Jackals lost 6-2 at Yogi Berra Stadium.
Pavlik (2-1) pitched eight innings and allowed six runs on nine hits. Amazingly just one run was earned, which was in the eighth on an RBI single from Steve Baker.
Mark Hamilton (2-3), who batted in the Pride lineup yesterday as a designated hitter, pitched 7 1/3 innings and allowed two runs on seven hits, including four strikeouts.
The Jackals trailed early after second baseman Ricardo Cordova committed an error that led to the Pride's first run in the third inning. James Lofton hit an RBI single to score Jared Johnson, who reached on Cordova's miscue. Peavey, Jason Belcher and Joe Mihalics also committed errors.
Mihalics hit a double to begin the Jackals third inning, but it was Jason Tuttle's RBI double scoring Guillermo Reyes that tied the game at 1-1.
The Pride, however, would score two runs in the fourth to make it 3-1, and another two in the eighth to pull away to the eventual 6-2 outcome.
Mihalics and Tuttle each had two hits for the Jackals.
Billy Becher went 3-for-4 with an RBI to pace the Pride.
