New Jersey Jackals News Release
Little Falls, NJ - The New Jersey Jackals kicked around "The Can" Dennis Boyd, on their way to a 6-4 victory over the Brockton Rox to end their season on a high note.
The Jackals scored a quick run off Dennis "Oil Can" Boyd, in the top of the first. With two outs, Elvis Corporan doubled, setting the table for Francisco Lebron, who singled him home.
But in the bottom of the fourth, the Rox forged a two out rally of their own, that plated two runs. Eugene Julien singled with the bases jammed, putting the Rox on top 2-1.
Down by one, the Jackals put up a four-spot in the top of the fourth inning against Boyd. Jake Whitesides singled in a run, Tyler Brock reached on an error that scored a run, and Mike Rucci capped off the inning with a two-run homerun. The big inning made it 5-2 in favor of the Jackals.
The Jackals added a run when Zack Smithlin reached on a fielder's choice in the top of the seventh, extending their lead to four runs. But the Rox struck again for a pair of runs with two outs in the bottom half of the inning. Brad Rosenblat tripled in a run, and the next batter Jake Daubert brought the Rox within two with an RBI double. To the Jackals' delight, they'd get no closer.
The loss went to Dennis Boyd in five innings of work. He allowed five runs, four earned, on six hits, two walks, and three strikeouts.
New Jersey's starter Joe Orloski earned the win in seven innings of work. He scattered ten hits, surrendered four earned runs, while walking three and only striking out one.
