(Little Falls, NJ) New Jersey Jackals (19-17) designated hitter Luke Allen led the attack going 4-for-5 with a double, three RBI, and a run scored, in a 6-2 win over the Nashua Pride at Yogi Berra Stadium in Little Falls, N.J..

The Jackals jumped out early and never looked back, scoring four runs in the bottom of the first inning against the Pride. Catcher Matt Lauderdale enjoyed a three hit evening, finishing 3-for-4 with a double and an RBI, while second baseman Marcus Sanders went 2-for-4 with three runs scored.

Jackals starting pitcher Tom Atlee (1-0) earned his first victory of the season going five innings, allowing one run, on seven hits, one walk and five strike outs. Relievers Brandon Martin, Justin Barnes, and Ryan Pacyna combine to throw four innings, giving up just one run, to keep the Pride bats quiet.

Pride starter German Melendez (1-3) suffered the loss, lasting just one and one-third innings, giving up four runs, on six hits, two walks and no strike outs. Reliever Jason Paul was solid in long relief out of the bullpen, going four and two-thirds innings, giving up one run, on five hits, no walks and four strike outs. Mike Joyce pitched an inning and one-third giving up one run, while Isaac Burkett pitched two-thirds of an inning giving up one hit.

Nashua shortstop Sandy Almonte ended his night driving in both Pride runs, while centerfielder Vinny Pennell scored both. Almonte ended his night 3-for-5 with two RBI, Pennell was 2-for-5 with a triple and two runs scored.

The Pride and Jackals will wrap-up their three game series with the rubber match, Sunday at 5:05pm, when ace Hideki Nagasaka (4-1) takes the mound for Nashua. Mike Vicaro is scheduled to start for New Jersey.
