New Jersey Jackals News Release
Little Falls, NJ - The New Haven County Cutters exploded for four runs in the sixth inning, to defeat the New Jersey Jackals 4-3.
The Jackals forced the Cutters to play from behind from the start. A two-out, two RBI single by Bill Peavey put the Jackals ahead 2-0. But following the first, New Haven starter Tim Keinath became untouchable. He allowed only two hits after a rough start.
Joe Orloski was great until he hit a wall in the sixth. He allowed four earned runs, including RBI doubles to Orlando Encarnacion and Sandy DeLeon. The big inning allowed the Cutters to surge ahead.
A Jason Belcher RBI single in the eighth, cut the New Haven lead to 4-3.
Tim Keinath recovered nicely after a slow start. In 6.2IP he allowed two runs, both unearned, on four hits, while walking one and striking out one. Andy Weimer pitched a perfect ninth for his ninth save of the season.
The loss went to New Jersey starter Joe Orloski. He surrendered four runs, all earned, in 5.2IP. He allowed seven hits, walked three, and struck out only one.
