New Jersey Jackals News Release

Little Falls, NJ - The Jackals offense came out with purpose, scoring double digit runs for the second consecutive night, defeating the Brockton Rox 10-6, and completing the three-game sweep on the road.

For the Jackals, Rich Gomez hit a solo homerun in the top of the second, giving them the early lead, but it would be short lived. The Rox pushed across Guy Senjem on a Mike Scanzano single and an error from Jackals right fielder Darren Ciraco.

The Jackals re-took the lead in the top of the third when John Lindsey was plunked with the bases loaded, scoring Steve Checksfield. Again, the Jackals did not enjoy their lead for long. The Rox scored two in the bottom half of the inning to put themselves in the driver's seat, 3-2.

But all the Jackals needed was one big inning to make up the difference, as well as take a comfortable lead. In the top of the fourth, the Jackals feasted on control problems by Brockton starter Manny Tejada, scoring six runs, including a grand slam off the bat of John Lindsey.

The Rox added a run in the fifth, but the Jackals picked up two more in the top of the sixth. Lindsey pushed across RBI's five and six with a double, making it 10-4, Jackals.

Brockton scored their fifth run in the sixth when Hector Henriquez came home on a balk by Emmanuel Ramirez. Guye Senjem notched an RBI single in the bottom of the eighth, bringing the Rox within four, but would get no closer.

Aaron Myers got the win for the Jackals in a strong five innings of work. Manny Tejada got touched up by New Jersey and suffered the loss.
