Lynn, MA – The North Shore Spirit blew an early lead and fell to the New Jersey Jackals 11-9 in a wild one at the New Fraser Field.

Spirit closer Ryan Bicondoa (1-2) suffered the loss after uncharacteristically blowing a save opportunity. Craig Breslow (1-0) worked two scoreless innings of relief to pick up the win for the Jackals. Fabricio Benitez struggled but recorded the final three outs for his ninth save of the season.

After allowing New Jersey to score a run in the top of the first, North Shore jumped all over Jackals starter Josh Miller in the bottom half of the inning. Tanner Wootan leadoff with a single to left and scored on Nelson Teilon's eighth homerun of the season. The Spirit would tack on four more runs in the inning thanks to back-to-back long balls from Travis Oglesby and Brian Macchi.

New Jersey rallied in the second off Spirit starter Gary Bell. Juan Infante drove home a pair with a double to the gap in leftcenter. Craig Conway then delivered an RBI basehit that cut the Spirit's lead to 6-4.

Leading by only one in the fifth, North Shore's bats came alive again. With one down, Rob Fischer launched a Miller fastball deep over the centerfield fence for his seventh homerun of the year. Four batters later, Macchi drove in his second run of the night with a groundout that scored Joe Hastings.

In the eighth, New Jersey exploded against the North Shore bullpen, scoring five runs on three hits. The inning was highlighted by a three run shot off the bat of Chris Rowan, his 14th of the year.

North Shore had the tying runs on base in the ninth, but the Spirit's rally came up two runs short. Rob Fischer finished the game 2-4 with two RBI's. Nelson Teilon had a pair of hits and scored twice. North Shore is now 1-2 on their current homestand.
