
Jackals bullpen crumbles against Worcester

Little Falls, NJ - The New Jersey Jackal bullpen could not hold down a five run lead, as the Worcester Tornadoes score six unanswered to defeat the Jackals 8-7.
Fans witnessed a pitchers' duel for the first three innings, until the Jackal offense finally broke through. Rich Gomez homered, and Steve Checksfield pushed one across in the top of the fourth, making it 2-0, New Jersey.
The Jackals added three more in the fifth and sixth. Gomez singled home two in the fifth, and Checksfield came around to score on an inside the park homerun, pushing the Jackals lead to 5-0.
Worcester finally got on the board in the sixth when Andy Brown crushed a two run blast. But the Jackals got it back in the top half of the eighth. Ricardo Cordova notched a two RBI single, putting the Jackals ahead 7-2.
The Tornadoes made it a battle in the bottom of the eighth. They came up with four runs against the New Jersey bullpen, cutting the Jackal lead to one entering the ninth. And in the bottom of the ninth, with two outs, Worcester tied the game on Yohanny Valera's RBI single.
In the bottom of the tenth, Lucas Taylor singled home Alex Nunez tallying the exciting victory for the Worcester Tornadoes.
