North Shore Spirit News Release
The North Shore Spirit's mini two-game winning streak came to an end Sunday afternoon as they fell to the Grays 4-3 in extra innings.
Randy Rapp (2-0) picked up the win in relief for the Grays. Peter Soteropoulos (0-1) was saddled with the loss for North Shore.
The Spirit opened the scoring in the second with a pair of runs. Travis Oglesby led off with a double and scored two batters later on Alex Trezza's fourth homerun of the season.
The Grays quickly responded with two runs of their own. With two outs and a runner on first, catcher Brad Hargreaves sent a towering fly ball just over the left field fence, tying the game 2-2.
The game stayed tied until the ninth. Oglesby got things started with a walk. After pinch runner Garret Weir moved to second on a wild pitch, Stephen Carter put North Shore out in front with an RBI single up the middle.
The lead would be short lived however as the Grays scored a run of their own in the bottom half the ninth. Alex Garcia delivered a two out single that plated Larry Best with the game tying run.
The Grays put the game away in the eleventh. A Yuri Sanchez error allowed Willie King to score the game-winning run.
