
Jackals Bounce Back in 8-5 Victory

New Jersey rolled out to a 7-1 lead after 3 1/2 innings of play and would go from there to defeat Rockland by the score of 8-5.
The Jackals received solid production from their lineup tonight as they had seven batters collect at least a hit and score a run. New Jersey CF Alfredo Marte led the way going 3-for-4 with a home run, two runs scored and two RBIs. Jackals 3B Gregg Veneklasen had a pair of hits in four at-bats and an RBI while C Chase Smartt added a first inning three-run home run.
New Jersey starter Eduard Reyes gave up an earned run over seven innings of work to earn the victory. The 28-year-old allowed a walk and four hits while fanning five batters. Reyes is now 5-1 on the year.
For Rockland in the loss, leadoff hitter Ryne Birk had a 3-for-4 night with two doubles, two runs scored and two RBIs.
