Jackals Beat Cutters in Extra Innings

New Jersey Jackal rookie Tyler Brock hit an RBI single in the bottom of the eleventh inning to give the Jackals a 3-2 victory over the New Haven Cutters. The hit was Brock's first of the game. The victory ended the Jackals three game losing streak and improved their record to 11-15.

The Jackals trailed the Cutters leading into the ninth inning when Ricardo Cordova hit an RBI single to score Steve Checksfield to tie the game at two.

Jackals' starting pitcher Aaron Myers turned in a dominant performance, allowing only two earned runs in seven innings of work. Cutters' starting pitcher Courtney Hall also pitched a solid game, allowing one earned run in six innings.

The Jackals' Zach Smithlin went 4-6 on the day and teammate Darren Ciraco went 3-5 with a run scored. Bill Peavey of the Cutters hit a solo homerun in the top of the sixth inning to tie the game at one. The Cutters took the lead in the seventh inning when Keith Stegbauer hit an RBI single to score Orlando Encarnacion who was 2-3 for the Cutters.

The Jackals look to win the rubber game of the series tomorrow when they end their homestand with a final game against these New Haven Cutters. Tim Keinath is expected to start for the Cutters and Joe Orloski is the scheduled starter for New Jersey. The game will begin at 7:05 pm.
