New Jersey Jackals News Release

KANSAS CITY, KS - Nick Giarraputo's RBI double in the top of the first set the offensive tone. The Jackals scored 13 runs in the first four innings, and by the end of the three-hour thirty-one-minute affair, the Jackals tallied 17 runs, the most ever in Jackals Opening Day history.

Angel Berroa and Danny Santiesteban both hit three-run homers, while Jeff Lanning was 2-4 with three runs scored.

Starter Isaac Pavlik pitched five innings, allowing two earned runs on five hits and a walk. In the fifth inning, a batted ball off the bat of former Atlanta Brave Brandon Jones struck Pavlik in the shin. Pavlik finished the inning but did not return for the sixth.

Kansas City T-Bones' Josh Rainwater takes the loss. He gave up ten runs off 11 hits in 3.1 innings.

For the first time in Jackals history, the Can-Am League is playing the American Association during the regular season. The Jackals finish up this series with three more games against the T-Bones, three against the Wichita Wingnuts, and three against the Lincoln Saltdogs.

The Jackals and T-Bones face off tomorrow at 8:05ET. Former Washington Nationals starter Matt Chico and T-Bones' Nick Singleton both make their first start of the season.
