Newark 6, Worcester 4
The Newark Bears used a three-run eighth inning to distance themselves from the Worcester Tornadoes. After Alex Bardeguez singled to score Quentin Davis in the eighth Daryle Ward homered to give the Bears the 6-3 lead. Worcester third baseman Johnny Welch homered in the top of the ninth, but his solo shot was too little, too late. Matt Fitton picked up the win for Newark recording two outs in relief. Burt Reynolds was the only player in the game to have multiple hits as the Bear went 2-for-4.
Quebec 13, Rockland 0
Quebec Les Capitales starter Karl Gelinas worked seven scoreless innings to pick up the win in Friday's 13-0 rout of Rockland. The defending champions are now 2-0 on the young season. Gelinas allowed just three hits. Quebec scored in each inning from the second through the seventh and ended that stretch with a six-spot in the seventh. Robert Wagner and Josue Peley each had three RBI for Quebec. Peley had a two-run homerun the sixth and Wagner was 3-for-4 on the night. The Boulders had just five base runners in the contest.
Kansas City 11, New Jersey 2 (In Progress)
The Kansas City T-Bones broke a 2-2 tie in the third inning with a five-run explosion. Jose O. Duran, Sean Henry and Lee Cruz lead off the inning with three straight singles. After Brandon Jones was walked, first baseman Kala Kaaihue cleared the bases with a grand slam. The T-Bones added on three runs in the sixth and another in the seventh to lead 11-2 after seven and a half innings. Kaaihue was 3-for-4 with five RBI through seven and a half innings.
