Jack, Roy Named To Legends Of Hockey Board

MANCHESTER, NH – Dave Jack and Dick Roy have accepted board membership roles with The New Hampshire Legends of Hockey, a non-profit organization formed to celebrate and promote the heritage of hockey within the state of New Hampshire. Jack, 50, is a native of Moncton, New Brunswick. A former Concord Budmen (1979-94), he began his hockey career with the Junior B Trenton Golden Hawks in 1970. Drafted by the Kitchener Rangers (Ontario Hockey League) in 1972, Jack went on to be a four-year starter at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (1973-77) where he captained the 1977 squad. Next Jack played for Asiago Despar (Italy) during the 1977-78 season, before accepting an assistant coaching position with Methune High School (1978-79). Jack stills enjoys hockey in Manchester's Over 40 League, and he resides in Derry, New Hampshire, with his wife, Wendy, and son, David.

Roy, 69, is a native of Berlin, New Hampshire, who began winning hockey championships at Guardian Angel School in Berlin as both a seventh and eighth grader. Next he skated for the legendary Berlin Maroons (1954-67), and won two championships with the Flying Frenchmen (1954; 1967). After that, Roy accepted an officiating role with the New Hampshire Intercollegiate Athletic Association. He also coached little league hockey (squirts and midgets) and played old timers hockey before retiring in 1996. Roy resides in Errol, New Hampshire, and has two daughters and one son.

As new members of the board, Jack and Roy join other board members as they prepare for the organization's annual luncheon and induction ceremony. A new class of inductees will be honored at the Wayfarer Inn in Bedford, New Hampshire, in the spring of 2005.
