
J.P. Martinez Makes MLB Debut with Rangers

FRISCO, Texas - Former RoughRiders outfielder J.P. Martinez made his MLB debut on Friday, August 11th with the Texas Rangers in San Francisco, California against the San Francisco Giants.
In his debut, Martinez started in left field. He walked once and went 0-for-3 in the Rangers' 2-1 victory.
The Baracoa, Cuba native was called up from the Triple-A Round Rock Express where he was hitting .312/.427/.565 with 12 home runs and 55 RBIs this season in 67 games. Martinez also played three games with Frisco in 2023, collecting two hits and four walks in his 15 plate appearances.
Martinez played for Frisco in 2021 and 2022, logging 150 total games with the RoughRiders. He amassed 139 hits and scored exactly 100 runs with Frisco.
Martinez becomes the 196th former Riders player to make his Major League debut and the seventh member of the Road to the Show presented by Herman Marshall Whiskey in 2023, joining infielder Jonathan Ornelas and pitchers Mason Englert, Cody Bradford, Grant Anderson, Owen White and Alex Speas.
