
Frisco Snaps Four-Game Winning Streak in Shutout

CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas - The Frisco RoughRiders were held to four hits in a 2-0 loss to the Corpus Christi Hooks on Saturday at Whataburger Field, the third shutout of the week and the first by the Hooks.
Frisco (22-16, 53-53) has still not allowed more than two runs in any game this week. Now at 4-1 on the series, Frisco still has a chance to win five games in a series for the first time this year. The Riders did not allow a walk on Saturday to the Hooks (20-18, 53-54).
Seth Nordlin (1-4) allowed two runs over five innings with six strikeouts, suffering the loss.
Aaron Brown (5-1) garnered the win, pitching the final four innings with one hit allowed.
Robby Ahlstrom struck out a pair in a scoreless sixth inning and Grant Wolfram pitched the final two innings with four strikeouts, one hit allowed and no runs.
Corpus Christi put two runs on the board in the second inning and did not score the rest of the way.
With four scoreless innings from the bullpen, Frisco's relievers have now covered 19.2 innings this week with one run allowed and five hits.
Frisco has allowed just five runs over the first five games of the series and has a league-best batting average against of .143 this week.
Frainyer Chavez and Scott Kapers both had doubles for Frisco and Evan Carter recorded a hit and a walk. However, the Riders were unable to come up with a hit with runners in scoring position. Frisco went 0-for-6 in those situations on Saturday and 0-for-7 the day before.
Frisco snapped a four-game winning streak, which was tied for the longest streak of the year. Frisco has still won seven of the last 10 games and has not lost back-to-back games since July 16th. Friso has won three of the last four series, including this week in Corpus Christi.
The Riders and Hooks match up again on Sunday, August 12th at 5:05 p.m. for the final game of the series. Frisco will throw RHP Ryan Garcia (3-8, 6.69 ERA). RHP Blair Henley (2-5, 4.64 ERA) is slated to start for the Hooks.
