Green Bay Blizzard News Release

At Friday Night's game on the 11th against the Tri-Cities Fever, the Green Bay Blizzard will host the 2nd Annual "High School Tug-of-War Challenge," presented by the J.J. Keller Foundation. Area high school teams will fight for the right to be called the "Area's Strongest Team." The winning team will be awarded a traveling trophy, in memory of Bradley Williams, that will be presented by Green Bay Blizzard President and former Packer great Brian Noble, as well as James Keller (J.J Keller Foundation) and Joel Williams (Father of Bradley Williams), sponsors of the Tug of War Challenge. Last year's winner, Oconto High School will look to defend their title.

While the event itself will be a lot of fun for the players and Blizzard fans, it is also going to be much more meaningful than just a tug-of-war tournament. The team that wins will be presented with the Bradley Williams Memorial Trophy, named in honor of Bradley Williams, the Appleton Xavier High School sophomore who passed away two years ago during a football practice.

The Blizzard has teamed up with J.J. Keller Foundation to present the tournament and dedicate the trophy to the memory of Bradley Williams, a great fan of all sports, football in particular. Bradley's father, Joel Williams, is a Product Manager at J.J. Keller. As a gesture to the Williams family, J.J. Keller President James Keller wanted to do something to honor Bradley. Shortly after Bradley's death, the James J. and Rosanne C. Keller Family Foundation donated a scoreboard to Xavier High School and endowed a scholarship in Bradley's name. Keller also wanted to incorporate Bradley's love of football, and the idea for the trophy was born.

Xavier High will serve as the host team for the annual tournament. The competition will take place at halftime of the Blizzard game this Friday. The trophy will be presented to the winning team by Blizzard President Brian Noble, along with James Keller, Xavier Athletic Director Kathy Bates and Bradley's parents, Joel and Deanna Williams.

The game also highlights the Piggly Wiggly and Sargento Food "Stomp Out Hunger" Food Drive. Blizzard fans are encouraged to donate non-perishable food items to the Salvation Army and the DePere Christian Outreach Center.
