Motor City Mechanics News Release

FRASER, MI- The Motor City Mechanics are pleased to announce the arrival of one of the games best goal scorers, Center, Brent Gretzky, who was acquired earlier last week from Port Huron in exchange for Center, Aaron Brand.

Gretzky, 33, had an injury-shortened season last year when he played in only 37 games with the Danbury Trashers. During those games however, he managed to tally 38 points.

Two years prior he was in Port Huron with the now defunct Beacons where he matched his career high in goals with 43 in only 61 games played. In the playoffs he led the Beacons with 17 points in only nine playoff games. During his two seasons in Port Huron Gretzky totaled 74 goals, 67 assists for 141 points in only 106 games played.

"The Mechanics are thrilled to have Brent join the team," said Mechanics Head Coach, Danton Cole. "He will play a key role in helping us in our pursuit of a Colonial Cup."

Through 13 professional seasons, including two separate stints with Lightning of the NHL, Gretzky has reached the 20-goal mark six times and the 30-goal mark three times.

Opening night every fan that enters the Garage on October 28th will receive a complimentary opening night collectible game puck sponsored by McDonald's. Opening night is also a youth hockey celebration as all youth teams are encouraged to come join the fun and participate in the first intermission team parade, and meet McDonald's own, Ronald McDonald! On October 29th SVS Vision is presenting magnetic schedules as well as all kids are encouraged to wear costumes to the game and trick-or-treat with the Mechanics after the game.
