Corpus Christi IceRays News Release
Corpus Christi- The Corpus Christi IceRays of the Central Hockey League are pleased to name Pat Dunn as Vice President and General Manager of the club. Dunn takes over for Head Coach Al Sims who has served as the acting General Manager since last Tuesday.
"The IceRays gave me my first job in hockey and I can't wait to get back," said Dunn. "The position certainly presents a challenge, but I'm looking forward to committing my efforts to help the IceRays restore a winning tradition." Dunn, 39, is no stranger to South Texas or the IceRays organization. He served as an assistant coach for the 1999-2000 season, but dedicated his time to many other areas of the organization including ticket sales and public relations. His efforts within the franchise and in the community earned him a strong reputation throughout the Coastal Bend.
"The fans in Corpus are terrific," said Dunn. "I have many fond memories, and many great friends that still live here."
Following his tenure in Corpus Christi, Dunn moved on to become General Manager of the New Mexico Scorpions in 2001. At the beginning of the 2002-2003 season, Dunn was named the Head Coach of the Scorpions, making the jump from the front office to behind the bench. He had served in that capacity up until yesterday leading the Scorpions to a 12-11-1 mark through 24 games.
A native of Trois Rivieres, Quebec, Dunn also enjoyed an illustrious eight-year professional playing career that featured two trips to the Winter Olympics as a member of Team France.
Meanwhile, Sims will resume his duties as Head Coach. The IceRays host the defending President Cup Champions Memphis RiverKings this Friday at Memorial Coliseum at 7:05PM.
