'It Stings a Little Bit': Warriors Looking to Rebound from Weekend Losses

The Moose Jaw Warriors didn't have the weekend that they had hoped for, dropping a pair of 4-2 games to the Brandon Wheat Kings and Regina Pats.
A rough second period cost the Warriors on Friday in Brandon and then a slow start forced Moose Jaw to chase the Pats during Saturday night's game at Mosaic Place.
"In a couple of games, we've taken our foot off the gas and sort of let them have some stuff that we probably shouldn't and its cost us the last couple of games," Warriors forward Logan Doust said.
"For 35-40 minutes a lot of time, we're the better team, but we give up stuff that we shouldn't and we can't let that happen."
The Warriors scored early in Brandon, but allowed the Wheat Kings to take control of the game in the second period. While Saturday against Regina, Moose Jaw gave up two first-period goals, eventually tied the game, but fell short late.
"It stings a little bit," Warriors defenceman Denton Mateychuk said. "We're in both of those games, but we just stepped off the gas."
With another busy week ahead, the Warriors started the week focused with a fast-paced practice as they look to put the two losses behind them.
"All the guys know that those are two pretty big games we lost this weekend and we want to bounce back this week," Mateychuk said.
The Warriors have three games in four nights coming up this week, which starts on Wednesday with a trip up to Prince Albert.
Doust said the Warriors need to be sharp to avoid a let down against the Raiders.
"When you drop a couple of games, you're a lot more excited to get back out there and turn around," he said. "It's another divisional game, they're a point or two behind us in the standings, so we're really excited."
The Warriors and Raiders will meet on Wednesday night at the Art Hauser Centre.
After that, the Warriors will take on the Swift Current Broncos for the first time this season with a home-and-home series, which starts on Friday in Swift Current and then wraps up on Saturday at Mosaic Place.
