Albuquerque Isotopes News Release

Raimel Tapia went hitless in four at-bats Sunday afternoon to end his 19-game hitting streak and the Isotopes (27-23) had their winning streak snapped at four as the Fresno Grizzlies (21-30) came away with a 7-0 victory at Chukchansi Park.

Tapia's hitting streak that began on April 21 was tied for the fourth-longest in team history. The game also marked the first time this season the 23-year-old outfielder had not reached base for the Isotopes. The 28-game on-base streak was the longest in the PCL this season. Tapia still leads Albuquerque with a .379 batting average (50-for-128) and 15 doubles.

The Isotopes offense did not have much luck against the Grizzlies pitching as they were limited to four hits with two of them coming from Jordan Patterson. The shutout loss was the second for the Isotopes in 2017.

Staring pitcher Ryan Carpenter held Fresno scoreless for the first four innings of the contest before allowing a solo home run to A.J. Reed in the fifth. Carpenter ended up surrendering five runs, six hits including three home runs in 6.2 innings for his fourth loss of the season.

The Isotopes and Grizzlies play the third game of their series Monday evening. Barry Enright (2-0, 4.32) will make his fourth start for Albuquerque, while right-hander David Paulino (0-1, 4.50) gets the nod for Fresno. First pitch on Memorial Day will be at 5:05 p.m.
