Texas Rangers Recall OF Drew Robinson

ROUND ROCK, Texas - The Texas Rangers have recalled OF Drew Robinson from their Triple-A affiliate, the Round Rock Express, the club announced Sunday. Robinson was on Texas' Opening Day roster but was optioned to Round Rock on April 12. He becomes the seventh member of the Express to be promoted to the Rangers this season. A corresponding move at the Triple-A level has not yet been announced.
The utilityman made his major league debut on April 5 as a pinch hitter for Delino DeShields. He finished the game 0-2 and did not see any additional playing time before his option to Round Rock a week later. Since joining the E-Train, Robinson appeared in 38 games, batting .264 (39-148) with a home run and 11 RBI. He made starts at second base, third base, left field and center field with the Express.
Robinson has spent parts of the last four seasons with Round Rock. The Las Vegas native has posted a career batting average of .246 with 79 home runs and 367 RBI in 740 minor league games, all within the Rangers organization. He was drafted by the team in the fourth round of the 2010 June draft.
Round Rock continues a four-game series against the Omaha Storm Chasers on Sunday night. Express RHP Tyler Wagner (1-4, 7.63) is set to start against Storm Chasers LHP Eric Skoglund (2-3, 3.32) First pitch at Werner Park in Nebraska is set for 7:05 p.m.
