Kalamazoo Wings News Release

Muskegon, MI- Special teams proved to be the difference Friday in Muskegon, as Kalamazoo recorded two power-play goals and shorthanded tallies en route a 5-2 victory over the Fury.

Kalamazoo capitalized on its first power-play chance of the night, scoring just 39 seconds into the game, on a slap shot from the right point by John Miller (1st).

Muskegon knotted the contest early in the second period, with a goal from Rafal Martynowski (3rd) at the 1:13 mark.

The game got crazy midway in the stanza, as the teams scored a combined three goals in a span of 1:19. While shorthanded, Kalamazoo's Mike Manley netted his fifth of the season to help the K-Wings grab a 2-1 lead. Still on the power-play, the Fury pulled even at 2-2, when forward Mark Cadotte registered his first tally of the season.

Just 29 seconds after the Fury tied the contest, Manley (6th) answered again scoring the go ahead goal off a centering pass from Lucas Drake. The goal from Manley was his third against Muskegon this season.

Scoring its third special teams goal of the game at the 14:04 mark, the K-Wings extended its lead to 4-2 with tally from Kory Karlander (3rd).

Karlander added salt in the Fury's wound scoring an empty-netter with three tenths of a second remaining in the contest, as the K-Wings skate away with a 5-2 victory.

The victory snaps a four-game winless streak for the K-Wings. Tony Quesada knocked a side 27 shots to earn his first win of the season.
