Isles Command Game in Front of a Rocking Eastlink Centre Crowd vs. Titan

We're rolling right along through the month of November! Heading into tonight's bout with the Acadie-Bathurst Titan, the Isles held a record of 5-1-0-0 this month while outsourcing opponents 28-16. Previously, these two Maritime rivals have met up only one other time this season with that being a 4-3 Titan victory over in Bathurst. Now, with the largest crowd the Eastlink Centre has seen so far this year, the Isles were looking to keep their powerful offensive punch present in this one against an eager Titan squad. With Oliver Satny and the Isles looking to keep the win streak going in front of the home crowd and the Titan wanting to make a statement in Charlottetown, Saturday night was shaping up to be action-packed.

Leading point man Xavier Simoneau was the first one to crack the score sheet in this one as he potted his ninth of the year. Patrick Guay and Simoneau went on a 2-on-1 break where Guay sent a nice dish cross-ice to Simoneau, Xavier took the puck, settled it down the best he could before getting it on net and sneaking it past Chad Arsenault. Patty Guay was the lone assist on the goal. The Titan used a crowd to their advantage a few minutes later when a commotion in front of the net somehow led to Joseph Henneberry getting his twig on the puck to redirect it past Satny. Assisting on the tally were Zach Biggar and David Doucet. At exactly twelve minutes into the opening frame is when an Islanders forward hit a big milestone. Jarrett Todd drove the net and managed to clean up a loose puck in front and bury it for his first career QMJHL goal. Elation struck the face of Todd as he recorded his first as an Islander, helping hands on the big go-ahead goal went to Lukas Cormier and Noah Laaouan.

It's awesome to score your first goal in any league and to get it on a night with your family here it's pretty awesome. I love it here, it's an awesome place, I grew up spending my summers in Rustico so it's basically a second home to me."

"You know what the smile says it all. It was awesome to see a kid coming to the bench that excited with that first Q goal. I was really happy with the way that line responded, they were scratched last game and gave up a goal early but I thought they played their best game of the year tonight. That's what you look for in young kids is progression, it was great to see and I'll remember that smile for a while." Head Coach Jim Hulton on Todd and his lines efforts.

Shots through twenty were in favor of Charlottetown 11-5.

It took the Isles less than one minute to pot a goal in the second period when Jakub Brabenec found himself on the breakaway. Brabenec was stopped on his initial shot attempt but stuck with the puck to bury the rebound on Arsenault and put the Isles up 3-1 early. Assisting on Brabenec's seventh of the season was William Trudeau. Just before the halfway point of the frame, Xavier Simoneau hung around a scramble in front of the net before collecting the loose puck and roofing it for his second of the game. Brett Budgell and Drew Elliott were the helping hands on this one. As time was winding down in the second, Lukas Cormier and the Isles powerplay went to work. With just 24 seconds left, Cormier took a one-timer and cranked it on net and past Arsenault for his tenth of the season.

Shots going into the final frame favored the Isles 31-9.

Once again in the third period, the Islanders cracked the board early. At 1:10 into the frame, Keiran Gallant went in on a 2-on-1 with Patty Guay, Gallant went for the five-hole on Arsenault and was successful in beating him for his first of the season while being short-handed. Assist went to Patrick Guay. The Titan managed to scrape the board one more time when Island native Bennett MacArthur managed to beat Satny at 5:52 into the third. Helping hands on the goal were Hendrix Lapierre and Riley Kidney.

When the final buzzer hit the Isles had cruised their way to a 6-2 victory and pushed the winning streak up to five games. Final shots on goal favored the Islanders as well 40-22. Oliver Satny recorded his seventh win of the season.

Three Stars of the Game:

Xavier Simoneau(CHA)- Two goals and one assist.

Lukas Cormier(CHA)- One goal and one assist.

Jarrett Todd(CHA)- First career QMJHL goal.

This is what Jim Hulton had to say on the win tonight. "You know I liked our energy right off the hop, I thought we took control of the game in the first period and didn't really look back. We built on our game into the second and all in all really happy with the complete win."

The Islanders return to action on Friday night when Patrick Roy and the Quebec Remparts make their way to the Eastlink Centre, puck drop is set for 7:30 pm.
