
Isles Acquire Biakabutuka

The Charlottetown Islanders have acquired defenseman Jérémie Biakabutuka and a draft pick from the Rimouski Oceanic, it was announced on Monday afternoon by General Manager Jim Hulton.
In return, the Islanders have sent rookie defenseman Mathis Aguilar and three draft picks to the Oceanic.
19-year-old Biakabutuka stands at six-foot-four and 203 pounds. He is a native of Longueuil, QC, and was selected in the 1st round, 18th overall by Val-d'Or in the 2018 QMJHL Draft. This past offseason, he attended the San Jose Sharks rookie camp where he won the fitness testing for all rookies.
"Jérémie is a big right-shot defenseman who can skate," commented Assistant General Manager Guy Girouard. "He fits our team's style and brings in playoff experience."
In 173 career QMJHL games between Val-d'Or and Rimouski, he has 18 goals and 44 assists.
