Isaac Benard Named Player of the Week

TRAVERSE CITY, MI- The Frontier League has named Beach Bums' outfielder, Isaac Benard, this week's player of the week.

In six games of road action against the Florence Freedom and Gateway Grizzlies, the West Richland, WA, native was 10 for 22 for a .455 average. He added two home runs, five runs batted in, six walks, two stolen bases, and scored five runs, helping the Beach Bums to a 4-2 mark on the trip.

Benard was selected to start the Frontier League All-Star Game for the "Rookie" team and has currently reached base in each of his last 11 games. Earlier this season, the Tampa Bay Rays 23rd round pick in 2016, reached base in 29 straight. Overall, Isaac is hitting .296 with six homers, five doubles, and 28 runs batted in.

On Wednesday night, the Beach Bums return to Wuerfel Park to start a six game home stand. The Lake Erie Crushers will be first into town for a doubleheader to start a three game set. First pitch for the opener of two seven-inning contests is scheduled for 5:05pm eastern and Tom Willms will have the call, starting with the Budweiser pregame show, at 4:45.
