
I's capture first series of second half with win against Drive

Kannapolis Cannon Ballers News Release
Kannapolis, NC; Kannapolis (5-13) knocked off Greenville (11-8), by a score of 8-3, Monday night at Fieldcrest Cannon Stadium. After I's starter Daniel Cortes allowed a run in the first, he calmed down and worked 5 straight scoreless frames. The Intimidators took the lead in the 5th with 3 runs off Greenville starter Ryan Phillips. After an RBI single from Brandon Allen to lock it up at 1, the Fernando Valenzuela and Juan Camacho each drew bases loaded walks to put the I's ahead 3-1. Kannapolis two more runs in the 7th one a wild pitch charged to Phillips and an ensuing throwing error on catcher Mitch Stachowski. Paulo Orlando and Aaron Cunningham each scored on the play. The Intimidators tacked on three more in the 8th with an RBI single from Eric Mesa and a 2-run hit smacked to right by Cunningham. Despite 2 drive runs in the 9th, Jason Rice polished off the Drive for the win. It is the first series win for Kannapolis in the 2nd half.
Kannapolis begins a 3-game series in Augusta, Ga., Wednesday night. Derek Rodriguez starts for Kannapolis. The Intimidators return to Kannapolis Saturday to begin a 4-game series against Savannah.
