
Irving named WHL Player of the Week

Everett Silvertips goaltender Leland Irving has been named Greyhound WHL Player of the Week for the first time in his WHL career. The Swan Hills, Alberta native was one of the main components in the Silvertips series victory over the Kelowna Rockets in the Western Conference Semi-Final.
Throughout the week Irving posted a 3-1 record and recorded a 1.57 GAA and a .950% SP with one shutout. Throughout the 2006 WHL Playoffs Irving is currently 3rd in GAA (1.48), tied for 1st in SP (.944), tied for 1st in shutouts (3) and tied for 1st in Wins (8). For the Silvertips it is the second week in a row that a Silvertips player has earned a WHL Player of the Week Honor. Last week Silvertips forward Peter Mueller earned player of the week honors.
The Silvertips will battle the Vancouver Giants in the Western Conference Finals starting later this week. The series schedule will be made available to the public early this week. For group tickets, contact the Silvertips office at (425) 252-5100.
