Cyclone righty Jeff Landing pitched six innings of one-hit ball while Caleb Stewart and Jabe Bergeron had three RBI's each as Brooklyn beat Aberdeen 9-0 Sunday at KeySpan Park. The IronBirds, shutout for the first time this year, fall to 0 and 6 on the season.
Aberdeen was held to two hits. In the second inning Jason Maxey, the Towson U product, singled to right and, with two outs in the 9th, Ryan Finan hit a ground single to left. Landing fanned ten and threw 89 pitches in his six innings.
Aberdeen starter Ryan Schwabe took the loss, yielding four runs on six hits in three innings. Henry Lozado gave up five runs, just one earned, in 2.1 innings and Bryan Dumesnil pitched the final 2.2 innings, allowing just one hit.
At the plate on the day, the IronBirds were 2-30 with 13 strikeouts and they've scored just 12 runs on the year.
The IronBirds are 0-3 on this road trip which continues Monday night at 7:05pm at Williamsport.
NOTES --- Aberdeen has been held to two runs or less in five of its six games..............Brooklyn swept the series by a combined score of 19-7..............CF Lorenzo Scott, who had been out with a hamstring injury, played for the first time this season, and went 0-4 leading off.............the IronBirds made a season-high four errors..........Radhames Liz is the scheduled starter Monday at Williamsport........catch the game on AM 970, WAMD or on the net at ironbirdsbaseball.com
