Brooklyn Cyclones News Release
June 26, 2005 - The Cyclones kept up their winning ways on Sunday night by shutting out the IronBirds 9-0 at KeySpan Park, to sweep the series from Aberdeen and increase their winning streak to four games. Jeff Landing (1-0) was dominant for the Cyclones, allowing only one hit over six shutout innings, while walking none and striking out 10, on his way to his first victory of the young season.
Once again, the bullpen provided great support as Travis Hope and Edgar Alfonzo combined for three strong innings to close out the staff's two-hitter. Caleb Stewart and Jabe Bergeron were the offensive stars for Brooklyn, driving in three RBI apiece. The Cyclones scored four in the second inning, highlighted by a two-run single from Stewart, and Bergeron added a two-run single of his own in a four-run sixth inning. Jonel Pacheco and Matt Fisher each stole a base for the speedy Cyclones to increase the team total to a league-leading 12 steals. With the victory, the Cyclones stay in first place with a record of 5-1.
The Cyclones continue their home stand Monday against the New Jersey Cardinals, and tickets are still available for the game. You can call (718)-507-TIXX, visit www.brooklyncyclones.com or visit the KeySpan Park box office, located at 1904 Surf Avenue.
