
IronBirds don't maintain winning ways

Williamsport, Pennsylvania -- A night after allowing just five hits in a win, IronBirds pitching gave up six extra-base hits and 14 hits overall in falling 9-3 at Williamsport. The series is now even at a win each and Aberdeen falls to 1-7 on the season.
Aberdeen took a 2-0 lead in the third on Mark Fleisher's two-run homer, his first as a pro. Ryan Steinbach's RBI single an inning later gave the Birds a 3-0 edge thru three and a half frames.
But Williamsport got one back in the fourth and James Boone's two-run HR in the 5th off Bob McCrory tied the game at three.
The Crosscutters broke it open with a five-run, five-hit, 7th vs. Russ Brocato featuring three doubles and two singles. A run in the bottom of the 8th ended the scoring as Williamsport scored a season-high nine times.
McCrory allowed three runs, all earned, over five innings and Brocato took the loss falling to 0-1.
Steinbach went 3-5, rasing his average to .381. Fleisher added three hits and is 5-10 in this series.
NOTES ---- Aberdeen has now hit three homers in its last four games..............Fleisher, the 14th round pick from Radford, began the year 0-14, but is 6-14 since...............Birds had a season-high 11 hits and have 41 hits the past five games after getting just 15 in the first three contests...............Jose Zapata picked up his first hits of the season, going 2-4...............19-year-old righty Brad Bergesen starts Wednesday at 7:05 here for Aberdeen....catch the game on AM 970, WAMD or at ironbirdsbaseball.com.
