
Iowa Wolves Acquire Returning Rights to Phillip Wheeler

DES MOINES, Iowa - The Iowa Wolves announced today that the team has acquired the returning player rights to forward Phillip Wheeler in a three-team trade with the Mexico City Capitanes and the South Bay Lakers. In exchange for Wheeler's rights, the Wolves sent a 2023 first round pick to the Lakers.
Wheeler, 6-8, appeared in eight NBA G League games last year between Mexico City and the Rio Grande Valley Vipers. During the 2021-22 season, he played in 32 games for the Quebradillas Pirates in the Puerto Rico BSN, averaging 16.8 points and 5.7 rebounds per game.
In addition, South Bay acquired a 2023 second round pick and the returning player rights to Jordan Howard from Mexico City. Mexico City received the returning player rights to Mason Jones.
