Iowa Barnstormers News Release

DES MOINES - The Iowa Barnstormers (3-4) are on the road this week traveling to Green Bay to take on the Blizzard (1-6). The game kicks off on Sunday, April 24 at 3:05 p.m. CDT at the Resch Center in Green Bay, Wisconsin. Fans will be able to tune in to the game by watching live on IFLLive.tv or listening on WHO Radio 1040.

It was a matchup of two of the top offenses in the IFL at Wells Fargo Arena last Saturday as the Iowa Barnstormers (3-4) faced off against the Spokane Empire (5-1). The Barnstormers top ranked offense was headlined by receiver Lucas Hefty who took to the back field in the absence of leading rusher Robbie Rouse. Hefty proved to be an offensive force taking 13 carries for 56 yards and adding eight catches for 47 yards through the air. Defensive end Lebron Daniel continued his impressive season Saturday night collecting five total tackles including 3.5 tackles for loss. A surging Empire offense and uncharacteristic penalties were the downfall of the Barnstormers as they dropped their second straight game at home, 54-34.

Green Bay (1-6) was unable to steal a victory at home last week as they were defeated by the Billings Wolves, 55-34. Leading the Blizzard on offense was quarterback Matt Berhrendt. Berhrendt completed 10 of his 21 pass attempts for 156 yards and five touchdowns. The bright spot for the defense was linebacker Courtney Daniel who recorded seven total tackles including six solo tackles and one tackle for loss. Despite Daniel's efforts, the Blizzard defense was unable to slow the Wolves' offense and the Blizzard fell in their second straight game.

This week's matchup between the Iowa Barnstormers and Green Bay Blizzard features two of the top quarterbacks in the IFL. Iowa's Donovan Porterie is once again a top quarterback in the league ranking first in yards (1316), first in completions (114) and tied for third in touchdowns (26). Green Bay's second year quarterback Matt Behrendt is enjoying a breakout season currently ranking third in yards (1172), second in completions (109) and is tied for the third in touchdowns (26).

This Sunday's game marks the fifth meeting between these two franchises since the Barnstormers joined the Indoor Football League. In the most recent matchup the Barnstormers defeated the Blizzard, 72-21 at Wells Fargo Arena on February 26, 2016. Next week, the Barnstormers will travel to Nebraska on May 7 for a 7:05 p.m. matchup with the Danger. Currently, Nebraska sits at second place in the Intense Conference and the Barnstormers sit at fourth in the United Conference.

There is still time to order single game or partial season tickets. Fans can order tickets by calling the Barnstormers at 515-633-2255 or by stopping by the Wells Fargo Arena Box Office. Tickets are also available online at www.theiowabarnstormers.com.
