Iowa Signs Forward Olivier Archambault, Assigns to Alaska

ANCHORAGE, Alaska - The Alaska Aces, the 2014 Kelly Cup champions and proud affiliate of the St. Louis Blues and Minnesota Wild of the National Hockey League, announced today that rookie forward Olivier Archambault (Ar-SHAMM-boh) has been assigned to the Aces from the Iowa Wild of the American Hockey League.
Archambault was signed today by Iowa to a two-way (AHL / ECHL) standard player contract. Iowa is the AHL affiliate of Alaska and Minnesota.
"Olivier is a dynamic and talented forward we're confident will perform as a difference maker every game," said Aces head coach Rob Murray. "After agreeing to terms with us on an ECHL deal, his response to opportunity at AHL training camp speaks volumes of his potential and compete level. We're excited to bring him aboard."
Archambault, 21, skated with the Minnesota Wild as a free agent invitee at the NHL Prospects Tournament in Traverse City, Mich. and earned a hat trick for Iowa in AHL preseason play on Oct. 1 vs. Chicago. The 5-foot-11, 172 pound forward has 10 games of additional AHl experience with the Hamilton Bulldogs, collecting a goal and an assist in the 2012-13 regular season.
The native of Le Gardeur, Quebec earned 231 points (100g-131a) in 270 career games with Quebec, Drummondville and Val d'Or of the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League. Last season he earned 46 points (19g-27a) in 38 games with Quebec and posted a +19 rating. His career high 66 points (32g-34a) in 64 games ranked second on Drummondville for scoring in 2012-13.
Archambault was originally selected by the Montreal Canadiens in the fourth round (108th overall) of the 2011 NHL Entry Draft.
The Aces resume training camp with practice on Friday (10:00 a.m.) at Ben Boeke Ice Arena, open to the public. Opening Night is Friday, Oct. 17 at Sullivan Arena against the Ontario Reign at 7:15 p.m. (GCI/KFQD), when the Aces will unveil their third Kelly Cup championship banner.
