John-Ford Griffin's solo home run in the sixth inning broke a 1-1 tie and buoyed the Iowa Cubs (41-39) to a 2-1 victory over the Oklahoma City RedHawks (39-40) before 10,052 people Thursday night at Principal Park.

J.R. Mathes (8-4) allowed just one run on seven hits to earn his team- leading eighth win of the season. He walked three and struck out one.

Greg Reinhard worked two perfect innings in relief of Mathes and Blake Parker worked a scoreless ninth for his eighth save.

The Cubs broke a 32-inning scoreless streak with a run in the third inning off RedHawks starter Elizardo Ramirez (4-7). Bobby Scales led off the inning with a walk and moved into scoring position on a balk. Scales eventually came around to score and give the Cubs a 1-0 lead.

Oklahoma City catcher Kevin Richardson tied the game 1-1 with a long solo home run into the left field suites in the top of the fifth. The blast was the team-leading sixth of the season for Richardson, who delivered a 14th inning single last night to help the ‘Hawks to 1-0 win.

Texas Rangers rehabbing outfielder, Josh Hamilton, finished the game 0- for-4 with a strikeout. The 2008 All-Star and Home Run Derby hero is 1- for-11 with three strikeouts in two games at Principal Park this week.

Fans attending the 7:05 p.m. series finale tomorrow can enjoy the second of two Holiday Fireworks Extravaganza shows at Principal Park this week. Following tomorrow's game, the I-Cubs will embark on a nine game road trip starting Saturday in New Orleans.

Notes: Camp's RBI single in the third inning broke a 32-inning scoreless streak for the Cubs. The drought was the longest for the I- Cubs since joining the Pacific Coast League in 1998 ... Griffin's sixth- inning blast was his second of the season. Both of his homers this year have come at Principal Park.
