Reno Aces News Release
Reno, Nev.- Trent Oeltjen continued his scorching offensive run with three doubles and a home run, but the Las Vegas 51s piled up 16 hits en route to a 12-6 win Tuesday over the Reno Aces in the series opener at Cashman Field.
Oeltjen finished 4-for-5 with three runs scored and two more driven in. This performance comes just after Oeltjen torched Tacoma for four home runs, two triples and 10 RBIs in a four-game series at Aces Ballpark.
Oeltjen's efforts went for naught, though, as Las Vegas scored in six different innings to take the first of a three-game set.
The loss fell to Reno starter Hector Ambriz (3-6), who allowed five runs-four earned-on nine hits over five innings of work. The 51s touched up the Reno bullpen for seven more runs after Ambriz's exit.
The win went to Sean Stidfole (1-0), who tossed 2.2 innings of scoreless baseball out of the bullpen.
Aside from Oeltjen's day at the plate, four other Aces-Chris Roberson, Rusty Ryal, Abraham Nunez and Orlando Mercado-each collected two hits.
The series continues on Thursday from Cashman Field. RHP Bryan Augenstein (1-3, 5.87 ERA) takes the ball for the Aces, while LHP Fabio Castro (3-3, 3.92 ERA) gets the nod for the 51s. First pitch is set for 7:05 p.m.
Reno returns home for a nine-game homestand starting with a sold-out July 4 game against the Sacramento River Cats.
For tickets for the rest of the homestand, stop by the Aces Ballpark Box Office, call (775) 334-7000 or visit www.RenoAces.com.
