Iowa Barnstormers Kick off 2016 Training Camp

DES MOINES - The Iowa Barnstormers of the Indoor Football League (IFL) kicked off their 2016 Training Camp this week in Des Moines. Practices began Tuesday, February 2 when 40 players from around the country hit the field to work toward earning a spot on the Barnstormers 2016 roster. The two-week training camp is being held at the Game Ready Training Center.

Leading up to training camp, Coach Brannen completed his 40-man roster with the re-signings of OL Alex Gonzalez and DB Kirkland Davidson and the signings of league-veterans WR Marcus Barnett, DB Tony Grimes, and OL Ronald Johnson. Coach Brannen has also signed rookies OL Peter Evans, WR Chris Gant, DL Raytron Lamar, DL Ahotoetu'u Liu, and DB Manfred Johnson.

Team practices take place daily at 8:00am at the Game Ready Training Center (3217 NW Prairie Lane, Des Moines, IA 50313). Training camp practices are open to the general public and all media. The team's full practice schedule is available below.

The Barnstormers will travel to Cedar Rapids, Iowa on Friday, February 12 to face off against in-state rivals the Titans in a pre-season matchup. The pre-season game will kick off at 7:05pm at the U.S. Cellular Center.

In addition to practices, the Barnstormers will engage in several community events. Fans can meet members of the 2016 training camp roster for the first time on Sunday, February 7 at Doc's Lounge in Johnston for the Barnstormers Big Game Party starting at 4:00 p.m. Members of the training camp roster will also appear at Montana Mike's in Newton on Tuesday, February 9 from 5:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m. The team will be helping to raise money for the training of the Newton Police Department's new K9 Officer, Smokey.
