Iowa Barnstormers News Release

DES MOINES - The Iowa Barnstormers (2-1) hit the road to take on the Billings Wolves (2-2). Kickoff is set for 8:00 p.m. CDT on March 26 at the Rimrock Auto Arena at Metra Park in Billings, Montana. This is the Barnstormers second game in a 5 week, 3 game stretch away from home. Fans will be able to tune in to the game by watching live on IFLLive.tv or listening on WHO Radio.

Before their Week 5 bye the Barnstormers suffered their first loss of the season being held off by the Wichita Falls Nighthawks 74-47. The game was fiercely contested through the first two quarters with the Barnstormers taking a 27-23 lead into halftime. A 30 point third quarter from Wichita widened the margin enough to prevent a Barnstormer comeback. Quarterback Donovan Porterie and Receiver Brady Roland did all they could to keep the game close connecting on 3 touchdowns. IFL rookie Defensive Back DaeJohn Love had the best game of his young career recording 13 total tackles including one tackle for loss.

Prior to a Week 5 bye the Wolves were at home against the Spokane Empire, and were able to edge out a 30-22 victory. Spokane struck first, but the Wolves went on a 14-0 run in the first half to take a 14-7 lead into halftime. The Wolves held the Empire scoreless in the third quarter while putting up 16 points of their own. A 15 point outburst by the Empire in the fourth wasn't enough and the Wolves moved to 2-2 on the season. Wolves' Quarterback Dak Britt led the offense completing 14 of 27 passes for 136 yards and one touchdown. Britt also led the team in rushing with 24 yards adding 2 more touchdowns.

The matchup between Iowa and Billings is highlighted by two of the League's top quarterbacks. Iowa's Porterie ranks: 3rd in the IFL in pass yards per game (169.3), T-4th in pass touchdowns (11), 5th in pass yards (508), and has the best touchdown-interception ratio at 11 to 1. Billings' Britt is a dynamic talent ranking in the top 5 in the league in: completion percentage (57.7%), pass yards (579), and pass yards per game (144.8). Britt is also near the top of the league in rushing yards (148).

The Barnstormers and the Wolves have matched up one time in the past. Last season the Barnstormers held off the Wolves 20-17 on May 8, 2015. This is the only meeting of Iowa and Billings this season.

The Barnstormers head to Spokane to face the Empire (2-1) next week then to return the Wells Fargo Arena on April 9 to face the Nebraska Danger (3-1).
