Iowa Cubs News Release

Tony Richie went 4-for-5 with a homer and four RBI in the Iowa Cubs' 14-2 win over the Tacoma Rainiers on a sunny Thursday afternoon at Principal Park.

The Cubs got on the board early with a run in the first inning when Casey McGehee hit a sacrifice RBI to centerfield.

Iowa took a 7-0 lead in the third inning when the team batted around. Luis Figueroa drove in McGehee and a pair of two-RBI doubles by Richie and Eric Patterson brought in a total six runs in the inning.

Tacoma got on the board in the fifth inning, when Jeremy Reed hit an RBI double, bringing the score to 7-1. Tacoma would score one more run in the sixth but could not overcome Iowa's offensive attack.

After reaching base on an error and two walks, Andres Torres extended his hit streak to 23 games with a seventh inning double.

Josh Kroeger and Richie each hit two run home runs in the eighth inning for the 14-2 final. It was the first time this year Iowa has hit two home runs in the same inning. McGehee also launched a solo home run in the sixth inning.

Starting pitcher Kevin Hart threw 3.2 innings and struck out six, while newcomer Hector Carrasco (1-0) picked up the win. Tacoma's Robert Rohrbaugh (3-2) was tagged with the loss.
