Intimidators tripped in extra innings by Tourists

(Asheville, NC) - Neil Wilson's two-out single drove in Ian Stewart for the winning run in the bottom of the twelfth inning lifting Asheville (16-19) over Kannapolis 6-5 Friday night at McCormick Field in Ashville. The loss ends the Intimidators season-high four game win streak.

The Intimidators went ahead 2-0 in the first inning off Tourists starter Brian Lynch. After Antoin Gray reached on a two-base error, Robert Valido singled up the middle driving in Gray. Leo Daigle drove in Valido on a fielder's choice ground out.

The lead wouldn't last long. Asheville scored three runs off Intimidators starter Brandon McCarthy in the second with the tying and go-ahead runs scoring on Trey George's double. He Tourists added a run in the third to go ahead 4-2.

Leo Daigle crushed his second home run of the year, a two-run blast, scoring Tom Brice tying the game 4-4. Asheville retook the lead with a solo shot in the fifth inning. Kannapolis tied the game in the sixth on Cory Haggerty's RBI single driving in Clint King who led off the inning with a double.

Todd Deininger (0-1) took the loss giving up the winning run while allowing two hits and striking out one in two-thirds of an inning. Before the winning run scored, the Intimidators bullpen did not allow a run in the previous seventeen and two-third innings. Manual Corpas (0-1) earned the win.

Kannapolis (19-16) is in the midst of an eight game road trip with three games remaining against Asheville. The Intimidators return home to Fieldcrest Cannon Stadium Wednesday, May 19th for a 10:00AM Education Day vs. the Hagerstown Suns.
