(Kannapolis, NC) - Ryan Rodriguez tossed seven shutout innings and Antoin Gray supplied the offense with a two run homer leading the Intimidators over the Sand Gnats 3-0 Saturday night at Fieldcrest Cannon Stadium.
Rodriguez (10-8) became the team's second 10-game winner this season joining Daniel Haigwood. The Intimidators starter struck out eight Sand Gnat hitters and allowed just two hits.
Gray gave the Intimidators (27-21, 61-56) the lead with his two-run shot in the third inning. From there it was all Rodriguez with help from the defense and the bullpen.
Fabio Castro threw a perfect eighth inning before giving way to Ehren Wassermann in the ninth inning. Wassermann struck out Josh Whitesell notching his league-high 29th save.
The losing pitcher was Sand Gnat starter Nick Long(10-8). He gave up two runs on six hits in the loss. The Intimidators added an insurance run off reliever Samuel Martinez in the eighth.
