Intimidators Beat Bats, Rain to Split Double Dip

(Kannapolis, NC) – As the sky opened up with rain, Pedro Lopez sliced a ground ball through the hole at short scoring Tom Brice from second base lifting the Intimidators 3-2 in 10 innings over the Bats splitting the double header with Greensboro on Sunday night.

Game two picked up where the first game led off, which the Bats won 2-1 in nine innings. However the Intimidators (28-33) won the pitcher's duel in game two with three pitchers combining to two-hit the Bats.

After surrendering back-to-back solo home runs in the second inning by Chris Respo and Angel Molina, Adam Larson held the Bats (33-29) scoreless and allowed just one base runner through the end of the fourth inning.

Josh Rupe picked it up in to start the fifth inning and kept the Bats hitless tossing four scoreless innings walking one and striking out three. Armando Perez (3-1) retired six of seven batters faced, striking out four recording his third win.

Lincoln Holdzkom (1-4) took the loss giving up the single to Lopez in the bottom of the tenth inning. He pitched just two thirds of an inning.

Game three of the series is Monday night at 7:05pm from Fieldcrest Cannon Stadium. Tuesday is a doubleheader beginning at 11:00am with the gates opening at 10:00am.
