Jersey Shore BlueClaws News Release
(Lakewood, NJ) The Lakewood BlueClaws, class A affiliate of the Philadelphia Phillies, have announced that outfielder Andre Marshall has been reassigned to extended spring training in Clearwater, FL. The roster move gives Lakewood 23 active players heading into game two of today's doubleheader with Hagerstown, the beginning of a 12-game home stand at FirstEnergy Park. Marshall is in the lineup for game one.
Marshall, who played the first half with Lakewood last year, is hitting .201 with three homers and nine RBI heading into game one. Marshall just abandoned switch-hitting, and will be working on batting exclusively from the right side in extended spring training.
In addition to Marshall, RHP Lee Gwaltney also is headed to Clearwater. Gwaltney has been on the disabled list since May 27th with a shoulder injury. Gwaltney will rehab in extended. So far this season, he's 3-4 with a 3.96 ERA with the BlueClaws.
Marshall and Gwaltney will be in extended for the start of mini-camp, which covers players who've been there since the beginning of the season, as well as players recently signed from the 2003 Major League Amateur Draft.
Lakewood and Hagerstown are playing two separate admissions games today (Sunday) with the first contest at the regularly scheduled 1:05 start time and the nightcap at 6:05. Each game will be seven innings.
Reserve Seat Tickets remain on this home stand for all but the weekend dates, where General Admission Sod Squad Tickets are available. Great seats are available for all home games and tickets for all BlueClaws home games are now available by calling (732) 901-7000, option 2. Box-office hours are Monday through Friday 9-to-5 and Saturday 9-to-3. On game days the box-office is open until the end of the game.
