Inter Miami CF to Face Birmingham Legion FC this Wednesday in the U.S. Open Cup Quarterfinals

Inter Miami CF is set to get its fifth consecutive two-match week underway with the Club's first appearance in the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup Quaterfinals, with the team visiting USL Championship side Birmingham Legion FC for the matchup this Wednesday, June 7. Kick off at Protective Stadium is set for 8 p.m. ET.

Inter Miami CF teamed up with Heineken to launch the 2023 Inter Miami CF Pub Partner Program presented by Heineken in order to provide the best experience for fans in South Florida during all the Club's away matches of the 2023 Major League Soccer (MLS) season.

Inter Miami in 2023 U.S. Open Cup

Inter Miami will make its fourth appearance in this year's edition of the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup against Birmingham Legion, marking the first time the team reaches the Quaterfinals stage of the competition. The team now needs three more wins to win the first cup in Club history and clinch a spot in the 2024 edition of the Concacaf Champions League.

Inter Miami reached the Quarterfinal after defeating Miami FC on penalties on the road in the Third Round on April 26, and defeating Charleston Battery on May 9 in the Round of 32 and Nashville SC in the Round of 16 on May 23 in home games at DRV PNK Stadium.

Open Cup Champions on the Roster

Inter Miami currently has three former Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup winners on its roster in defender DeAndre Yedlin, who won it in 2014 with Seattle Sounders FC, midfielder Victor Ulloa, who helped FC Dallas clinch the title in 2016, and forward Josef Martínez, who won it in 2019 with Atlanta United.

Familiar Faces

The matchup may present a reunion for Birmingham Legion attacker Juan Agudelo, who featured on Inter Miami's roster for the Club's inaugural season back in 2020.

Scouting Birmingham Legion FC

Birmingham Legion earned their spot in the Quarterfinals of the Open Cup after defeating Chattanooga Red Wolves SC in the Second Round, Chattanooga FC in the Third Round, Memphis 901 FC in the Round of 32 and Charlotte FC in the Round of 16.

The Birmingham-based side will enter the fixture after most recently falling 0-1 on the road against Detroit City FC in USL Championship regular season action in the team's last match. So far in 2023, Birmingham Legion has recorded five wins, seven losses and a draw for a total of 16 points and sits sixth in the USL Championship Eastern Conference table. Midfielder Enzo Martínez has been the sides leader this campaign, with five goals and two assists to his name.

What's Next?

If Inter Miami wins, it would advance to the Semifinals and take on the winner of the FC Cincinnati and Pittsburgh Riverhounds SC Quarterfinals game on Aug. 23.
