Inland Empire 66ers News Release

Inland Empire (34-46, 3-7) kept the offense rolling Saturday night for a win over the High Desert Mavericks (44-36, 7-3) by a 9-5 final. 66ers shortstop Rolando Gomez continued his hot hitting going 3-for-5 with 2 RBIs and two doubles.

The 66ers offense got on the board early as first baseman C.J. Cron hit his team leading 12th home run of the year in the 2nd inning to give the 66ers an early 1-0 lead. Cron also increased his league leading RBI total to 69. He finished the day going 2-for-4. Catcher Jett Bandy went 2-for-3 with an RBI to help Inland Empire's cause as well. The Mavericks tied the game up at 4 apiece until 66ers center fielder Drew Heid hit a RBI sac fly to give Inland Empire the lead for good.

66ers starter Lay Batista baffled Maverick's batters as he fanned a season high eight batters in 5 1/3 innings and only allowing one earned run to pick up the win to improve to 5-6. Mavericks starter Roenis Elias had previously dominated the 66ers until tonight as the 66ers offense scored nine runs off of him to pick up the loss to fall to 6-5. 66ers relievers Eric Cendejas and Buddy Boshers kept the Mavericks offense at bay going 3 2/3 innings giving up an unearned run and only 2 hits while striking out four.

The 66ers will head up north on their road trip to meet the Visalia Rawhide for the first time this season at 6:05 pm. The game can be heard on the home of 66ers baseball KCAA 1050 AM beginning with the San Manuel Band of Mission Indians Pre-Game show at 5:55.
