Visalia Rawhide News Release

VISALIA -- Former Rawhide pitcher Wade Miley learned early Sunday that he would help represent the National League in the All-Star game on July 10^th in Kansas City.

Miley spent time in Visalia for parts of the 2009 and 2010 season. His best outing with the Rawhide was on May 20^th, 2010 against San Jose where he tossed 8.2 innings of one run ball on just five hits. Miley was promoted to Triple-A Reno in June of that season.

As Spring Training came to a close this year, Miley was originally scheduled to start his 2012 campaign in Reno. However, an injury to Takashi Saito opened up a bullpen spot for Miley on the Opening Day roster. Less than a month later, an injury to Daniel Hudson opened up a spot in the rotation. Miley is 9-4 this season in 16 appearances (13 starts) with a 2.87 ERA (30 ER/94.0 IP).

"It's awesome," Miley told Nick Piecoro of the /Arizona Republic/. "It's just an honor to have your named called with all the guys who are going to be there. It's amazing.

"It's a great honor. Hopefully we get 'Hilly'. He's well deserving of it. He probably deserves it more than I do the way he's been playing the last two months."

Visalia native and D-backs teammate Aaron Hill is one of the "Final Vote" nominees in the MLB.com online competition. Hill has impressed the baseball world by hitting for two cycles within two weeks. Hill is the first player to hit for two cycles in a season since George Herman did it in 1931. As of Sunday evening, Hill's OPS of .874 leads all second baseman in the Major Leagues.
