Inland Empire 66ers News Release

Tyson Perez pitched a complete game one hitter and the Lancaster JetHawks (21-20) defeated the Inland Empire 66ers (20-21) in the first matchup of the season between the division rivals by the final score of 9-1.

Inland Empire starter Lay Batista was chased after five innings allowing three runs and the bullpen was unable to keep things in check.

After Lancaster took an early 1-0 lead, C. J. Cron hit a solo home run in the second, but it would be the lone run for the 66ers as they would muster up just one more hit as Perez stymied the IE offense.

Lancaster added two runs in the fifth inning taking the lead once again and would not look back padding their lead further with multi-run efforts in the seventh and eighth.

The two teams will be back in action for game two of the series at San Manuel Stadium Friday night with first pitch scheduled for 7:05. Ryan Crowley (01, 4.09) will take the mound for Inland Empire opposite Jorge De Leon (0-3, 8.50) and Lancaster with a special fireworks show following the game.

Unable to make it to the game? Be sure to tune in to the Sam Farber on AM 1050 KCAA with the San Manuel Band of Mission Indians pregame show beginning at 6:55.
