INDIANAPOLIS - Indy Eleven remain unbeaten in eight matches after collecting a point against Richmond Kickers, 1-1. An early goal from Richmond midfielder Raul Gonzalez saw Indy trail until midfielder Dylan Mares leveled the score less than 10 minutes later. The draw is Indy's fourth in the last five fixtures, bringing the team's regular-season record to 11W-7L-9D with 42 points on the table.

"Take the positive of the sense of being unbeaten in eight games for eight games isn't easy." said Indy Eleven head coach Martin Rennie. "I think there's a couple games in there we feel we should've won. Those can be made up as long as we keep on this kind of run."

Richmond kicked off the evening with an early goal. In the fifth minute, defender Austin Yearwood played a skipping cross from out wide deep into Indy's penalty box. At the top of the six-yard box, Gonzalez took a one-touch shot that caught Eleven goalkeeper Owain Fon Williams slightly off guard for the lead.

Indy Eleven found the equalizer nine minutes later. "Boys in Blue" midfielder Juan Guerra switched the play from his team's defensive half to Mares on the far edge. After settling, Mares charged in Richmond's 18-yard box with a short dribble around defender Brandon Eaton for a shot opportunity. The returning Indy original's strike snuck under Kickers keeper Trevor Spangenberg, whose diving body deflected the ball into the back of the net.

Eleven forward Soony Saad nearly registed Indy's second goal in the 31st minute with with a shot 14 yards out from the frame. Spangenberg read the play well and forced the ball over the crossbar as it curled toward the upper right corner of the goal.

Both teams traded chances for the remainder of the match, but neither side could produce a game winning goal. The best look came from Indy Eleven forward Jack McInerney in the 89th minute. A free kick from Spangenberg was turned over by Guerra near the center line. Aerial play found Mares, who played a through pass up to McInerney in Richmond's half. The 26-year-old forward fought through Kickers' Mekeil Williams defensive attempts for a shot that ricocheted off the top of the frame and out of play.

McInerney remains "Indiana's Team's" top goal scorer of the season with nine to his name, seven of which were produced in the last 12 matches. Moreover, Indy Eleven have not lost in those 12 matches McInerney scored in.

The 1-1 draw concludes Indy's sixth match out of seven in a 22 day span. The tired-legged "Boys in Blue" play their third consecutive match at home in a rematch against Eastern Conference rivals New York Red Bulls II after a three-day break.

"There's not really a lot of time to pick the bones out of this game because in a few days we're going to be here again playing an important game against New York Red Bulls II," Rennie said. "...They're a very high energy, very dynamic team. Young and hard to play against so we'll have to be at our best in order to get the points."

Indy Eleven are back at home Wednesday, September 5, for Hispanic Heritage Night. The "Boys in Blue" will kick off against New York Red Bulls II at 7:00 p.m. Fans can get tickets to the third to last home match for as low as $15 by visiting IndyEleven.com/Tickets or by calling (317)685-1100.
