Indians Trade RHP Tadano to Oakland

The Cleveland Indians announced last night that they acquired outfielder Ramon Alvarado in a trade with the Oakland Athletics in exchange for pitcher Kazuhito Tadano.

Alvarado, 20, spent the 2005 season with Oakland's Rookie League club in Arizona where he hit .296 (50-169) with 10 doubles, three triples, six home runs and 32RBI in 48 games. He also stole nine bases and scored 37 runs as he finished 4th in the Arizona Rookie League in total bases (84), slugging percentage (.497) and extra base hits (19). His six home runs were also 2nd in the AZ League. Ramon spent his first three seasons in the Oakland organization in the Dominican Summer League.

Tadano, 25, has spent parts of the last three seasons with the Bisons after being signed to the Indians organization on March 8, 2003. Last year, Tadano was 5-5 with a 4.39ERA in 32 games serving as both a starter and a reliever for Buffalo. In 56 career games with the Herd, he was 7-9 with a 4.68ERA and 131 strikeouts.

Tadano was designated for assignment by the Indians on April 1 when the Indians set their 2006 Opening Day roster.
