Indianapolis Indians News Release
SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. â The Indianapolis Indians overcame an early deficit to triumph in a 10-8 victory against the Fresno Grizzlies, San Francisco's Triple-A ballclub.
The Tribe's starter, Jorge De La Rosa, left after the first inning, and his replacement, Dave Burba, gave up six early runs. But the Indians rebounded with a strong sixth inning to remain within striking distance.
After Corey Hart's solo shot in the second inning, J. J. Hardy homered following a Dave Krynzel walk. Chris Coste then singled, moved to second on Scott Sheldon's single and scored on Luis Figueroa's single.
In the ninth inning, Jason Belcher started the comeback with a double and Nestor Correador followed with an infield single. Outfielders Ryan Knox and Krynzel posted RBI singles, setting the stage for Steve Scarborough's go-ahead double, scoring two more. Scarborough made his way home on Scott Candelaria's single.
Tribe hurler Brian Bowles earned the win, allowing one run in two innings of relief, giving way to Scott Wiggins for the save in the ninth. Lee Gardner absorbed the loss for Fresno.
With the win, the Indians improve to 5-4 in spring training and host the Iowa Cubs on Tuesday at Maryvale Baseball Park in Phoenix.
